The Interfaith Legal Advisers Network

Eighth Meeting (June 2014)

The meeting discussed a research project to be conducted at Oxford Brookes University on the place of faith in community cohesion - the legal challenges which faith communities and government face in working together for the public good - and the opportunities which religious organisations have to collaborate with academic researchers in the field of law and religion.

The discussion followed presentations by Professor Peter Edge (Oxford Brookes), a leading scholar in the field of law and religion, and Sarah Hayes (a former student on the LLM in Canon Law at Cardiff Law School).

The event was hosted by Dr Werner de Saegar and was held at Kellogg College Oxford on 23 June 2014.

The first of its kind in the UK, the Interfaith Legal Advisers Network (ILAN) was established by Cardiff Law School’s Centre of Law and Religion in December 2007. The Network seeks to facilitate an ongoing discussion providing members with a greater understanding of their respective religious legal systems and the common legal issues they face.
