Centre for Professional Legal Studies
Cardiff Law School is home to the Centre for Professional Legal Studies, the leading provider of legal training in Wales. The Centre was established in 1992 with the aim of delivering state-of-the-art training courses to the legal profession. Cardiff is one of a handful of providers validated by the professional bodies (the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board) to offer both of the main vocational training courses for the profession:
- the Legal Practice Course for solicitors; and
- the Bar Professional Training Course for barristers.
The Legal Practice Course (LPC)
Cardiff has delivered the LPC since the LPC was first introduced in 1993 and has established a national reputation for a demanding and high quality course. It has consistently achieved the Solicitors Regulation Authority's (formerly the Law Society) highest grade for over 10 years.

The Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC)
Cardiff has delivered a high quality and highly regarded BVC since the BVC was first introduced by the Bar Council in 1997.

Professional Development Unit (PDU)
Through its Professional Development Unit, Cardiff provides other courses for the profession, such as the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme, and the Criminal Litigation (Duty Solicitor) Accreditation Scheme.
