Admissions
Full time LPC
All applications for the full-time Legal Practice Course (for Stages 1 and 2 combined or for Stage 1 only) have to be made online through the Legal Practice Course Central Applications Board at www.lawcabs.ac.uk.
To ensure that your application is considered in the first round of applications you will need to submit your application, and your referee will need to submit the reference by 1st December 2009.
If you have applied in time then you should expect to know the result of your application in early February 2010, and you will then have until the 12th March 2010 to accept any offer that you receive.
If you have missed the 1st December 2009 deadline then your application can still be considered at any time from the end of the first round on 12th March 2010 to the start date in September 2010.

Applications for the part-time LPC are made direct to the University and not through the Central Applications Board. For details of how to apply for the part-time course please contact us (Tel: +44 (0)29 208 74941 or email law-lpc@cardiff.ac.uk).
How we determine your application
When determining whether to offer you a place, we take into account the following criteria:
- your academic record (including your actual or predicted degree result and actual or predicted result in the CPE/ GDL)
- (for full-time applications via the Central Applications Board) whether you have put Cardiff as your first, second or third choice
- your statement in support of your application
- the reference from your referee
- your degree of commitment to the solicitors' profession (as evidenced by placements with solicitors' firms or equivalent experience, or a secured training contract)
- your reasons for wanting to study the LPC at Cardiff, and
- any special personal reasons affecting your freedom to study elsewhere.
We conduct our student recruitment, selection and assessment procedures on an equal opportunities basis. We are committed to ensuring that all applicants are treated equally, regardless of their age, colour, race, ethnic or national origins, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, family responsibilities, physical or sensory disabilities, or their political or religious beliefs.
Stage 2 only applications
If you have already studied Stage 1 of the LPC and wish to study one or more Stage 2 vocational electives at Cardiff please contact us direct (Tel: +44 (0)29 208 74941 or email law-lpc@cardiff.ac.uk).
Our Stage 2 vocational electives are delivered from March to June in each year.
Requirements for enrolment
Students wishing to embark on the Legal Practice Course (LPC) in 2010 must ensure before they enrol on the course that they:
- enrol as a student member;
- obtain written confirmation from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) that they have completed the academic stage of training.
You will not be able to start the LPC if you do not satisfy these two requirements.
In order to be eligible to enrol on the LPC in 2010 students are required to ensure they submit an application for student enrolment and completion of the academic stage form (EN1) to reach the SRA by the deadline set by the SRA. For LPC 2009 the deadline was 1st August 2009.
When applying for student membership applicants are required to disclose the existence of any matters which call into question their character and suitability to proceed towards eventually becoming a solicitor. Students with character and suitability issues are required to submit their completed application from EN1 to reach the SRA by an earlier deadline. For 2009 this deadline was 1st April 2009.
For further information or guidance on how to request an application
form visit the Solicitors Regulation Authority web site at

If you are considering making a late application to start the LPC, you will only be able to attend if you meet the requirements of the Training Regulations. You must take this into consideration when making your decision.
