The project was strongly of the view that it is vital that young people should have their voices heard in the debates on the future shape of democracy in Wales and the UK. As such, a key aim was to provide opportunities for young people to develop their ideas, participate in the debate, and influence decisions.
The project is particularly proud of the success of Our Future, an initiative led by a group of young professionals in Wales, which facilitated participation in constitutional debates. After a series of events and initiatives in Wales, and collaboration with the UK Youth Parliament, Our Future’s work culminated in the organisation and hosting of the first ever UK Young People’s Constitutional Convention in Cardiff in September 2014. This was an event that attracted delegates from across the United Kingdom and received television coverage in Wales.
