First Meeting of LARSN a Huge Success

May 2008

The inaugural meeting of the Law and Religion Scholars Network (LARSN) on Friday 2nd May 2008 was a huge success. Over thirty academics from around the UK shared their own research and teaching interests in the field and discussed how the study of law and religion could be further promoted as a mainstream legal discipline.

It was decided that the group should collect information about current law and religion teaching and supervision in the UK. Network members agreed to establish resources in order to keep up to date with developments in the field: the existing law-religion-UK email list has been relaunched as part of LARSN and a list of law and religion publications will now be published in Law and Justice and on the web.

Oxford Brookes will host a law and religion doctoral student’s conference whilst Cardiff will host a LARSN conference next May which will include the next meeting of the Network. Further information about LARSN can be found on the Centre for Law and Religion website (http://www.law.cf.ac.uk/clr) under 'Networks'.
