Authored Books

A number of important books have been written by members of the Centre.   Norman Doe’sThe Legal Framework of the Church of England (Oxford University Press, 1996) and Mark Hill’s Ecclesiastical Law (3rd edn., Oxford University Press, 2007) have both been cited by the House of Lords.

Norman Doe’s other authored books include Canon Law in the Anglican Communion (Oxford University Press, 1998), The Law of the Church in Wales (University of Wales Press, 2002), An Anglican Covenant(SCM Canterbury Press, 2008), Law and Religion in Europe (Oxford University Press, 2011) and Christian Law (Cambridge University Press, 2013).

Russell Sandberg's Law and Religion (Cambridge University Press, 2011) has been cited by the UK Supreme Court. He is also author of Religion, Law and Society (Cambridge University Press, 2014).

Roger Ruston’s Human Rights and the Image of God (SCM Press, 2004) has been cited by the then Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams.

Mark Hill, Russell Sandberg and Norman Doe are also the authors of the Religion and Law in the United Kingdom (2nd edn., Kluwer Law International, 2014) which is adapted from the United Kingdom monograph in the Religion Law series of the International Encyclopaedia of Laws, first published in 2010.
